The king of boxing and the kung-fu king united? Deadline confirms that Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan are going to counter in Ex-Baghdad, a war movie about the attack on a Chinese refinery in Iraq, leading a Chinese investigator and former Navy to ally to track down the culprits.
Produced in China, the film is announced as one of the biggest budgets of a Chinese film with 80 million dollars allocated to the shooting. This feature will be directed by Scott Waugh, who is acclaimed for Act of Valor and Need for Speed with Aaron Paul. Waugh is best known for his work as a stuntman, for Speed, Last Action Hero, Hook, The Scorpion King, Mr & Mrs. Smith and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
In 1998, Stallone had already participated in a documentary of Jackie Chan on. Jackie Chan and both appeared in the credits of An Alan Smithee Film. Last November, Jackie Chan received an Oscar of Honor awarded by ... Sly himself! The ex-interpreter of Rambo confirmed the project with a post-Instagram not ceasing of praise on its compares:
Jackie Chan never stopped his career but only turned in China, which limited the arrival of his films in France. Some came via the DVD, but others did not cross the border. The actor, however, prepares his return to the American cinema with various projects.
As for Stallone, after resuming his mythical character Rocky Balboa in Creed and appearing in The Guardians of Galaxy 2, he will appear in Evasion 2, for which he will find Dave Bautista. His presence in an Expendables 4 is no longer topical since he recently said to have finished with the franchise.
